Vibrant Learners Year 6 SATs Programme
Year 6 SATs exams are held during May of each year. This is a compulsory exam for children aged between 10 and 11 as part of the National Curriculum Assessment Programme. Children sit for SATs exam after they have taken the 11 Plus entrance exam or the Private School Entrance Exam.
From 2016 the SATs exams are taking a new style and more rigorous to reflect the new National Curriculum. The New SATs English Test includes reading, spelling, punctuation, and grammar. The New SATs Maths Test includes arithmetic, mathematical fluency, solving problems and reasoning.
Vibrant Learners Year 6 SATs programme has developed to reflect the new National Curriculum and structured to enable children to prepare for the SATs programme addressing each paper.
SATs KS2 Test Dates 2019
The key stage 2 tests are timetabled from Monday 13 May to Thursday 16 May 2019.
Year 6 SATs Mathematics
Mathematics: Arithmetic. Prepare Children for Paper 1. Children will learn and improve;
Fractions, Decimals and Percentages and their relationship
Mathematics: Reasoning. Prepare Children for Paper 2 and 3. Children will learn and improve;
Ratios and proportions
Charts and tables
Units and measures (Eg time, money, temperature, weight, volume etc)
Shapes and their properties (including triangles, hexagons and their angles)
Statistics (Mean, mode, and median)
Children will learn problem-solving in context and practice worded questions which involve the above topics. Children will effectively use their Arithmetic and Reasoning knowledge in context.
Year 6 SATs English
English: Comprehension. Children will be taught how to read and understand the structure, meaning, and purpose of a passage of text.
English: Spelling, Grammar, and Punctuation. Children will learn and improve;
Nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, determiners, conjunctions, clauses etc.
Subjunctive verbs, passive and active voices, subordinate clauses etc.
The use and application of capital letters, commas, inverted commas, apostrophes, colons, semi-colons, hyphens etc.Develop pleasure in reading
Suffixes, homophones, synonyms, and antonyms
This package gives you 8 hours of tailored teaching in English and Maths. we advise children to attend a minimum of at least 6 sessions every month to achieve the best results. All our children at Vibrant Leaners see visible progress within 3 months of attending their sessions.
